Conductors

Teleflex Medical OEM is a global source for specialty conductors, which includes a full line of silver- or nickel-plated, copper or copper alloy devices. Our conductors can be combined with sensor technology to measure key medical signals that support customer’s diagnostic/interventional delivery device design.

• Ultra-fine wire from 44 to 52 AWG (American Wire Gauge) with the capability of producing 56 AWG CS-95 wire
• Environmentally friendly, cadmium-free conductor materials
• Diverse, in-house capabilities including bobbin winding, bunching, stranded wire, and single-end wire

Key Capabilities

Bunched Wires:

• 5 to 95 wires twisted together to make a cable and/or a member for rope cables, (a multi-step process cable where multiple strands are twisted to form a rope)
• Bunched constructions generally require extrusions with wider wall thicknesses

Stranded Ropes:

• Ropes use bunched members that are twisted together
  • For example, for a 7 x 95 rope, we take a single core strand with 95 ends, then place 6 strands of 95 ends around the core to make a rope that has 665 ends
• Wire sizes range from 38 AWG down to 46 AWG copper and copper alloys

Stranded Wires:

• 2 to 19 wires twisted together to make a cable
  • For example, for a 7 x 95 rope, we take a single core strand with 95 ends, then place 6 strands of 95 ends around the core to make a rope that has 665 ends
• Wire sizes from 28 AWG (thermocouple alloys) down to 56 AWG (copper and copper alloys)
• Materials: copper, copper alloys, and thermocouple alloys

Single End Wire:

• A single wire provided either as:
  • Drawn (hard) 38 AWG to 56 AWG
  • Annealed (soft) meaning the wire was heat treated to provide lower tensile with increased elongation.
• Size range: 38 AWG down to 56 AWG
• Materials: copper and copper alloys

Bobbins (Wire on Spools):

• 2 to 22 wires that are parallel wound onto spools
  • Used by customers for braiding applications
• Generally used for EMI (electromagnetic interference) protection in cables
• Sizes from 38 AWG to 56 AWG
• Materials: copper and copper alloys
