PGA Multifilament Yarn

Fast Absorbing. 20+ Year History of Clinical Application.

Material: Polyglycolic acid (PGA), 100% PGA, tenacity > 5.5 g/den

Characteristics: Short-term, bioabsorbable yarn retains 50% of tensile strength at less than 14 days. The actual time depends on processes and geometric formation of final device.

Linear density/titer: 15–144 denier

Tensile strength: ≥ 77 g (15 denier), 231 g (45 denier), 462 g (90 denier), and 657 g (128 denier)

Elongation at break: 15-30%

Inherent viscosity: ≥ 0.80 dL/g

Spin lubricant type: Water washable spin lube – the formulation is available to customers on request

Spin lubricant weight: 0.5-4%

Configurations: The PGA yarn is wound on tubes. The standard quantity is 100 grams per tube. Custom tube sizes are available upon request. Each wound tube is wrapped in plastic foil and packaged with a desiccant pouch inside a sealed, moisture barrier foil pouch.

PGLA Multifilament Yarn

Fast Absorbing. Co-Polymerized Material Option.

Material: Polyglycolic acid-co-poly-L-lactic acid (PGA/PLLA), 89-93 mol% PGA-co-7-11 mol% PLLA, tenacity > 5.1 g/den

Characteristic: Short-term, bioabsorbable yarn retaining 50% of straight tensile strength at less than 14 days. Actual time depends on processes and geometric formation of final device.

Linear density/titer: 52-64 denier

Tensile strength: ≥ 265 g (per 14-6-000334, CRE 8 in/min, 4 inch gauge length)

Elongation at break: 10-35%

Inherent viscosity: ≥ 1.16 dL/g

Spin lubricant type: Water washable spin lube – the formulation is available to customers on request

Spin lubricant weight: 0.5-4%

PLLA Multifilament Yarn

Slow Absorbing. Consistent Loss of Tensile Strength Over Time.

Material: Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), 100% PLLA

Characteristic: Longer-term, bioabsorbable yarn retaining 50% of tensile strength at 48 weeks. Actual time depends on processes and geometric formation of final device.

Linear density/titer: 75-160 denier

Tensile strength: ≥ 245 g 75 denier, ≥ 391 g (120 denier), and ≥ 1768 g (540 denier)

Elongation at break: 20-35%

Inherent viscosity: ≥ 1.30 dL/g

Spin lubricant type: Water washable spin lube (WWSL)

Spin lubricant weight: 0.5-4% (per MSOP-00000158)

Configuration: The PLLA yarn is wound on tubes. The standard quantity is 100 grams per tube. Custom tube sizes are available upon request. Each wound tube is wrapped in plastic foil and packaged with a desiccant pouch inside a sealed, moisture barrier foil pouch.
